Infant Mental Health: Babies Brains & Bonding (CAMHS Training)

“Infant Mental Health: Babies, Brains and Bonding” is designed to help practitioners working with infants, children, parents and families to understand how early relationships impact upon a baby’s brain development and the importance of sensitive parenting for optimal social and emotional development – in infancy and beyond. It is also appropriate for practitioners working with adults experiencing mental health difficulties to think about the adult’s experiences as an infant. “Infant Mental Health: Babies, Brains and Bonding” provides both a theoretical knowledge base, informed by neurodevelopment and attachment theory, and a space for practitioners to consider how this applies to practice. Many practitioners may be experienced in attachment theory and/or recognising baby cues, however IMH: BBB extends this to explore the relationship between these and brain development. The training is a full day session that includes PowerPoint, interactive exercises, group activities and video excerpts delivered by two members of the Leeds Infant Mental Health Service. This is our fifth year of delivering this training and it has evaluated very positively Learning Objectives: By the end of this course delegates will have an understanding of how the infant brain develops and the impact of stress and trauma on social and emotional functioning have an awareness of attachment theory and the different attachment categories be aware of the importance of  infant states and cues in promoting healthy brain development and secure attachment relationships have considered ways to support parents in responding sensitively to their babies Ideal for: All workers engaged in delivering services to families with young babies especially in health, social care, and early year’s settings.  This is a practical course with lots of opportunity for delegates to link ideas back to their work settings. Overview: This course provides staff with the knowledge base to support carers in forming good quality relationships with infants with the aim of establishing secure attachments.  It builds on and supports the booklet “understanding your baby” which is currently used as a universal provision by services in Leeds. Payments: Please note we prefer to receive payments through a credit/debit card and this is the only option we now offer for you to purchase the course on Eventbrite (unless you are eligible for a free place). If you do not have this option in your organisation to fund the course in this way please contact us at to discuss alternative payment options.
